I GIVE UP HILDESHEIM! Yes, you guessed it part of the collection in Hildesheim was closed, just the New Kingdom, the bit I had come to see. Third time lucky I guess. On the up side its a pretty town, lots of internet cafes, the Mayan exhibition that replaced Egypt was magnificent and the Peruvian pottery was indescribably wonderful. Possibly didn`t help that the door to the loo broke and I was stuck and had to yell for help, not a situation one wants to be in when you don´t speak the language. However they broke down the door and all was well. Museum also had a good cafe where I soothed my shattered nerves with pasta in a nice cheesy spinach sauce. Ah well I have seen 2\3 of the collection, and some of that was quie lovely.

Poor Ginny. I hope lunch made up for the problems of the day.

Gosh, that's quite traumatic. Funny how something that would be merely irritating at home, can be very stressful in a foreign environment. Take care of yourself Mum. Maybe you should buy some lockpicks, or a crowbar (-:

Gosh! Yes, embarrasing enough when you speak the language... and no chance of charades to tell them what was wrong because you were stuck behind the door!
