Nimes

Some very impressive and interesting stuff in Nimes. In the Garden of the Fountain, which reminded me of the Boboli Gardens, there were the remains of a tower and Augusteum. The Augusteum had been built on the site of a spring to Nemoz the local water god. The city was the home of legionary veterans who had fought in Africa against Kleopatra hence the cities symbol of the palm and croc.
