Durham

Just a quick post from the hotel internet. Its funny where the hotel does have internet available its either free or massively expensive, this one is not free. I have been paying £1 for an hour this place is £1 for 10 minutes. Hey ho later I hope to find a normal place. Getting here took all day, a relatively short concept in northern climes at this time of year. But there was track work and a replacement bus but finally arrived safely. This hotel is pretty plush for me and is a HUGE bed in a large room. Looks very comfortable. I went to the cathedral in the gloom and as the excellent choir practised, wandered around. Its so impressive, a great monster of a building, the vast pillars and arches, the ancient tombs, Cuthbert a very tough saint and the Venerable Bede, a great historian of the early medieval period. A thoroughly awesome experience.
